Paris Hilton, Bill Cunningham & Street Style at NYFW (day 5) #249

Today I was wandering around Lincoln Center looking for some interesting people to shoot. A woman walked infront of me and I grabbed my camera. She stopped and started posing. She was with another woman who was also well dressed (a more tailored look). I thought 'yeah these two are good shot'. I was looking through my lens and as I was shooting and something registered. I turned to my friend, "Wait, is this Paris Hilton?" She looked at me as if I was stupid. Paris then started walking away with her sister Nicky. Let's just add that moment to the endless list of 'weird s*** that happens to me'. Bill Cunningham also was mulling around. I kind of feel sorry for him now. You can see he just wants to do his job, and people keep pissing him off asking for photos. Leave Bill alone.

Iris Apfel // How to be a style icon #121

Iris Apfel is the small blue eyed woman behind the enormous circular glasses we see replicated in every designer collection these days. At 90 years old Apfel is a style veteran that still inspires many to be more than suit jackets and sandals. She continues to break convention by mixing high and low fashion. In the past Apfel's clothing choices have often been followed by a backlash from the fashion community; however, thanks to the Advance Style movement she is now seen as a style queen. You've got to love the power of the mainstream. For those that are in touch with fashion blogging I truly believe that Iris is the original Man Repeller. Leandra Medine coined it first, but Iris wore it first. Word.
