3. Found an apartment with a crazy landlord who owns a soft porn magazine. Lived with the most annoying models who smoked in the shower. F***ers.
4. Filmed our lives for 3 months in New York.
5. Got addicted to cupcakes. Not a good idea.
6. Started writing actual stuff not just shopping lists.
7. Went to a talk with the Marketing director of Victoria's Secret Beauty. Realized everything a brand shouldn't be.
8. Hung around New York Fashion Week. Wrote about it.
9. Met Bill. Wrote about it.
10. Got published.

How did I get to the Oscars?! #47

If you had asked me 6 months ago as to where I would be I would not have been able to give you a straight answer. I would have never ever told you I'd be in Los Angeles watching the red carpet for the Oscars!

Let me start from the beginning, this is how it went down:
I had planned to meet with someone at the Oscars for a work opportunity, but things didn't go to plan (as is often the case). Luckily I had made a friend who had access to a building that overlooked the red carpet. Sounds like a pretty good alternative right? Walk up, meet your friend and watch the red carpet arrivals. Not so much. Little did I know, security around the Oscars is on par with a secret service lockdown. First of all, the whole block around the Oscars is closed. Streets within a two block radius are lined with security checkpoints. And there are helicopters circling every 30 seconds. Don't forget the snipers on the roofs.

Spotted Tim Gunn & Nina Garcia, plus some much needed Twitter wisdom #43

I think this phrase is appropriate in this case, 'That awkward moment when you come round the corner and Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia are standing in front of you. And all the American's there don't know who they are. And you're having a major freak out. And Tim looks longingly at you.' I believe they were filming a pre-Oscars build up. Too much excitement. I was also meant to go to Terry Richardson's gallery opening tonight but I didn't because I'm waaay tired. And then I hear Paris Hilton was in attendance along with her clique. I apologize for not going and reporting back for you. I am sincerely sorry. That would have been an ultimate people watching opportunity.

Jimmy Kimmel, Oscars, and time difference #41

I finally landed in Los Angeles. It also happens to be my birthday which is super awesome. What's the first thing I do? Drink, find the Oscars, and go to a taping of Jimmy Kimmel with Jessica Alba as the guest. No big deal. I'm going to get all Asian tourist and go do some touristy excursions. I feel it's only fitting. Forgive me for such a short post but I have not slept since 5am (EST) yesterday. I may even be writing this while I'm sleeping. That's how tired I am.

Proof that my name is UN-SPELLABLE #39

Ok I decided I would progress from ordering under 'Morg' to ordering under 'Morgan'. This is the result. Seriously Starkbucks? If you are thinking this may be just a Starbucks issue, I ordered under Hannah at the local deli and got some version of Eliana. FML.

SMW Recap: Nick Jonas, Parsons, & tips to be a Social Media Jesus #38

Fashion Week wasn't the only excitement for last week. It was also Social Media Week. Some of you may be thinking, "what the hell?! Social media week?! Please don't tell me about facebook." Calm the f*** down! I'm not going to bore you with technicalities. I'll pick out the best features and list things you should probably know so you don't get 'unfriended'.

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Going inside Bloomberg headquarters. That building is built for a modern day Pharaoh. Picture Google HQ mixed with Dubai.
2. Checking into conferences on the 28th floor. If you're in New York and get to go into any building with more than 20 floors you need to be somebody with a life.
3. Going to a talk with the head of marketing and social Media for the Grammys, Beverley Jackson. Useful piece of information #1: The Grammy's are planned mid June and fully finished by the 15th of January. Hence when the death of Whitney Houston came the night before, Beverly had 24hours to reconstruct a show (planned almost a year ago) and integrate a tribute. Not to mention the Etta James tribute that also had to be sensitively handled so it wasn't over shadowed.  A lot of people were pissed off with how short the tribute was but given that they had 24hours it was pretty well done. Any other awards show would have reverted to powerpoint slides and comic sans headers. 
4. A talk with Jeff Daschis, CEO of the Dachis Group, at Bloomberg HQ. Favourite quote: "Look at the people around you. Capture this moment. We are on the verge of the biggest technological shift in history. This is as big, if not bigger, than the industrial revolution." Total mind-F. 
5. Using social media in fashion, at Parsons. Not only was this in the building where project runway was filmed but it was totally an eye opener. If you are in any type of creative industry make sure you're on-the-ball with all social media shizz. Knowledge is power.
