Haylie & Morgs 2hr Hollywood Reunion #53

I met up with my buddy ol' pal Haylie in Hollywood today with her pops. It would have been magical to do some filming had we thought of it at the time. We had some pretty hilarious fun on the back of a pickup truck driving around Beverly Hills scoping out star homes. It was jolly good to see her and very sad to say goodbye a second time. If you didn't catch our last vlog over on the New York Manifesto click here.

And I'm out.

THE END of THE NEW YORK MANIFESTO #36

As most of you know, a friend and I have been doing a collaborative blog called 'The New York Manifesto'. We pretty much chronicled our lives for three months in a weekly vlog. However, Haylie is returning to New Zealand to continue studying therefore the The New York Manifesto has come to an end. It's been a really exciting project to complete and it's something I'm proud to lend my name to. Haylie and I really have had an incredible time in New York. And I will miss Haylie's company and laughing hysterically at completely ridiculous things. But like with all good things you must stop when it peaks and  move forward with something new. I hope, for those of you who were regular watchers, you enjoyed it. Here it is, the final vlog.

And I'm out.

THE END. New York Fashion Week + Social Media Week #35

What an insane week it has been! And it's only Thursday! It went something like this: Fashion week, Social Media Week, Fashion week, Fashion week, Fashion week, Social Media Week, Social Media Week, Fashion week.
I'll be recapping the exciting events from New York Fashion Week and Social Media Week on Saturday USA (EST).
But just to get you uber hyped like an ADHD baby sloth, here's some of what has happend in Morgs' world:

Fashion Week images are my own. Social Media Week images courtesy of 'Social Media Week'
  • Somehow got backstage at DKNY, but ended up being shown the door. Found myself outside next to Bill Cunningham, and he called me child (if I had died, I would have died happy).
  • Wrote about 'momentarily' being backstage at DKNY and tweeted it to them. They responded "...Loved the post". Win. (read it here)
  • Went to a talk with the Director of Marketing/Social Media for THE GRAMMY'S, Beverley Jackson. I can't even explain to you the value of the knowledge she provided. We just don't get that in New Zealand.
  • Got backstage to Betsey Johnson only to be turned away. Wah. Just let me observe. I shall quote myself here (the worst form of shameless self promotion), "I'm not some weirdo trying to steal Jennifer Aniston's Blackberry. I just want to take photos."
  • Went to a talk with Nick Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers. What a mature young fellow (he's a year younger than me but what the hay). Very smart.
  • Took copious amounts of street style photos.
  • Dropped my coffee all over my pretty blazer. Raaah.
  • Watched 'The Vow'. I love a good chick flick.
  • Watched 'Safe House'. I love action movies almost as much as my family.
  • Discovered Macaroons. My life is over.
  • Went to a party DJ'd by Jersey Shore's Pauly D. I have never heard the words 'Yeah Buddy' so many times in one night. Next it'll be in the Oxford Dictionary (too far?).
  • Met some amazing people, doing things that will change the world. Total mind-F.
  • Woke up just in time to catch the live stream of the Calvin Klein show. Thank goodness!
And I'm out.
Peace, Morgs

PPF: INSANELY EPIC STREET ART #28

As promised I give you some of the best street art in Manhattan. I can't remember how many times I caught myself laughing at the witty (and sometimes perverted) poems scratched into walls around New York. I also hope you like the Banksy homage. Enjoy.

Why I came to New York? Reason ONE // Bill Cunningham #22

This guy is one of the many reasons I came to New York. Bill Cunningham. If you don't know who he is google him. He's the eye on the street in NY. I was so excited when the documentary about him, Bill Cunningham New York, came out in New Zealand. If you're an avid film watcher in NZ you will know that we hardly ever get any films that aren't 'mainstream' (I'm not a mainstream hater but I like my variety). Almost ran off on a tangent, sorry about that. Anyway for what ever reason (probably study toward that economics degree) I didn't get to see it. But thanks to the powers of the internet I was able to view it. Last count I've watched it five times. However, the best part is that now I can go up to 5th ave and watch him for myself. Sounds creepy right? It isn't I swear. In a way I'm studying, I'm learning. I get the feeling he's a pretty private person so I'd never bother him while he's working. He's an example of what it means to do what you love regardless of the money. Soppy I know, but true nonetheless.
And I'm Out.

Photo Profile Friday : Valentine's Day Decor (Adele 'Someone Like You' goes here waahh) #21

It's almost that time of year. The time of year most of us love to hate. The majority of you will probably be sitting with some french vanilla ice-cream comtemplating what could be or what could have been on the 14th of February. I'd join you but I have more important things to do like go to a concert. Stop listening to Adele and drinking tequila. Get up and dance in your undies to this. It still has your depressed-ness to it but now you can listen to a positive take. You're welcome.

And I'm out.
Peace, Morgs

Flea Flea Flea Marketing in New York City #15

First experience with New York City Flea Markets and it was ultra exciting. It was like going through your grandmas jewelry box only 50times in size. Vintage Heaven. There was even a stall selling someones unopened mail from the 1960's. Oh what fun. I had possibly too much fun. I've been looking for a long time for some sunglasses that are similar to Iris Apfel's signature owl frames (why? because I love her). I know Karen Walker had some pretty sweet ones out but they just didn't sit right and I couldn't justify the spend. Now I finally have some that maybe have a story and I bought them in New York City! Hip hooray!(see below).

And I'm out.

Photo Profile Friday : The West Village #13

Photo Profile Friday. The whole point of this is to let the photos tell you what's going on. Today I took a wander in The West Village; it's a little 'Sex in the City' but I like it.
p.s for all you friends fans, that building in the top right hand corner is the one used in the exterior shots for the show. However, I highly doubt they could base any of the characters out of this neighbourhood now. Rent is about about $4000p/m +. Ouch.

And I'm out.

Singing the National Anthem by Yourself in New York City #12

I some how ended up walking past the New Zealand flag for the second time this week. Coincidence? I think not! I looked a little retarded as I stood underneath it humming the national anthem to myself, but whatever.
Here are some things I miss about home:

  1. Burnt carrots with a good roast dinner. Wahhh
  2. Believe it not, the ghetto kids listening to Rihanna on their retro Nokia 1209's.
  3. The Sun.
  4. Normal supermarkets.
  5. Tax inclusive everything.
  6. Poppy aka my sister from another mister or some may say my dog. Wahhhh.
  7. My Fam-wahhhh-ily
  8. Kim Crawford Sav.
  9. Roller Blades
  10. Trent (My Car). You stay alive now.
  11. Constant viral phenomenons. I thought the week to week weirdo viral videos were a world wide thing. Turns out it's just us playing the game.
  12. Oyster Magazine
  13. Boogie boarding.
  14. Toilets that aren't retarded.
  15. Eating condensed milk until you die a horrible death.
Here's the photoboothin' magic I promised!

And I'm out.

P.S DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY?!
