I care if you follow me on twitter #303

Think what you like about this but I really do give a shit who follows me on twitter. It's important to me to know who is reading what I say. Regardless of whether I had 2 followers or 2,000,000 followers, I'd still make the effort to survey who's following me. That's your audience. Respect your audience. So many of the people I've done feature articles on I've learn't about from twitter. Not to mention it's a great way to communicate with the awesome folk that read this.

A quick note on twitter users and how to use it effectively:

The Follow Backs
Users who follow back everyone who follows them.

The Over Follows
Users who follow everyone who follows them and more. Usually these people have a lot of followers but very little engagement with their audience. That's not always the case but more often than not it is.

The Full Engagement Users
This is usually people with broad public profiles and, consequently, large fan bases - celebrities.

And then there's the rest of you who are probably saying, "I don't even understand what twitter is. Stop telling me this Morgs." In that case just pretend you never read this.

I was trying to explain this to a designer the other day and he just didn't get it so I hope this makes a bit more sense. Lets be honest, not everybody's a celebrity. I think if you can create a balance between all 3 types of users then you're pretty much set.

Tweet me.
