Inspiration Thursday // Everybody has to start somewhere #103

I never really understood what people meant when they said, "Everybody has to start somewhere". Of course I understood it to some extent but I could never really apply it to myself. I always thought (maybe I still do) that there was a fast track to getting to where you want to be. However, don't misinterpret that. I don't mean that there had to be an 'easy' way but I thought if you knew the 'ins and outs', by that I mean really really really know your shit, you wouldn't have to go through that embarrassing ground work. Not the case.

Take this blog for example. I started it 100 days ago. I posted a lot of crap at the start that I look back on now and cringe, but I had to start somewhere. And in 100 days I've built an audience I'm proud of, I've been offered to write for a magazine regularly, I have been asked to freelance fashion blog, I've met one of my idols (which would not have happened if I wasn't blogging)I've had the PR agent for one of the biggest fashion brands in the world look at my work, I get messages from people I've never met saying how much they like my work, I intern/work for one of the biggest lifestyle blogs in the world, and I've been asked to film my daily life (paid this time). Not bad for 100 days. Regardless I had to start somewhere and had I not gone through those cringeworthy starting stages I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now.

I wouldn't say blogging is something I put my career focus toward (having said that who knows what the future holds), but it's almost like an online resume. And it's something I can look back on in 5 years and be like 'oh yeah that's where I came from and this is where I am now'.
Everybody has to start somewhere.

Now I'm going to pour myself a glass of 3 brooms Sav (which I've never heard of in my life) -apparently it's from New Zealand. And I'm going to toast to myself because I think what I've done is pretty awesome.

Peace, Morgs :)
p.s have you done this yet?
