This was the very first casette tape I ever owned. I went to the local music shop with my aunty who was about 17 at the time. I picked it out and bought it with my own pocket money. Luckily mum had just bought a huge new stereo system so I could torture the whole neighbourhood. I'm one of those people who listens to a song 1000000 times until I hate it. Let's just say my aunt no longer took me to the music store.
To this day you can still play this song as loud as you like and I will hum it in my sleep. It is the one Nirvana song I don't have on my I-pod because it is way too special to be listened to over and over.
Eminem is probably one of the biggest music influences from my kid life. I would sit with the booklets from his album and learn every single word. It's still something I can whip out and people shit themselves. I was young at the time but I could relate to every word. My kind of gospel. Funny story: so I ended up going to this pretty upper tier private school halfway through my schooling and someone played the track "Love Me" feat Obie Trice and 50, and I broke out into song. It was hilarious to see the reaction I got from my 'never-heard-such-gangsta-music-in-my-life friends'. I have to thank my Dad for buying me the 8 Mile album on my 10th birthday. Best present ever.
There were two DVD's in my household: The Wizard of Oz & ACDC live at Donington. I know the set list from Donington better than I know the plot line to The Wizard of Oz. ACDC are my heroes. I can't even tell you how much they mean to my existence. The honest-to-God highlight of my life (apart from New York) was seeing them live at Western Springs. My friend Haylie and I were literally 3 meters from the front with 60 thousand people behind us. I was living the Donington DVD at that moment.
These bad ass bitches changed everyones life whether you like admit it or not. They changed mine not sure if it was for the better though.
Peace, Morgs
