The Hangouts - LOVE ROSIE BAKERY #407

I've found my new favourite hangout in Tauranga. Love Rosie Bakery is nothing but cuteness. Aside the fact that I had my first coffee in about 6 months, and began randomly twitching, it was great. Bring your laptop down, chill out, talk with friends - it's a brilliant blogger hangout. The atmosphere has that nice balance of hipster and housewife; tattoos and turtlenecks - you know how it is [hashtag] thuglife. Big call, but I'd go as far as to say it's on par with Little & Friday.

Stories About Life and How I Bet the Internet #394

Let us begin with an explanation about how one lost ones own privileges to ones OWN domain name. Baby dick party. No, but seriously. Last year, in the craziness of New York life, I decided - you know what? I'm going to get myself one of those 'legit' dotcom addresses because, well internet - just like L'Oreal Paris - I think you're worth it. And what a great decision that was [read: serious tone]. I clicked this button that said it would auto renew this fancy asset purchase I had just made. I, being so cyberive (that's a fusion of cyber and naive - brilliant isn't it?), I had very little idea that this would not in fact happen. Turns out Google fluctuates their policies more than German inflation circa 1920's; thus brings me to the current week, which has been full of asshole-ism on the internet front. If you are reading this then it means I was indeed successful in getting both Lord Google and Duke GoDaddy to back down on their ridiculous policies and reinstate my domain. Yes, that's right, I bet the internet *fist pumps violently*.

However, in the time I have been on my involuntary internet hiatus, I have reevaluated pretty much my life in general. My poor subconscious has been plagued with such questions as: will I still be doing this in 5 years time? Should I stop this blog? Why did I start it in the first place? How do I be less superficial in a superficial industry? Is what I do actually interesting? What the fuck do I actually do? Am I actually good at anything?  What is narcissism, really? Why do I have cravings for coconut water? Why do I find this so funny? Should I start making YouTube videos, again? What's with all the pregnant dreams I've been having? Why does the hair on my leg (that's singular because I'm pissed off with my other leg for making me fall down a embankment) grow faster in hot weather? What is life?

With such an intense foray of questions floating round in the matrix of my brain I have decided I will continue this blog. For how ever long I want to. Because, I can. And because I'm secretly really stoked I outsmarted the internet. Who needs lawyers when you have me (narcissism?). So I'll be here, lurking like a pedo in cyberspace, sharing the ramblings of life.
You're awesome, keep being awesome.

Guest Blog: From the Charlie Brown Runway at NZ Fashion Week #248

The Charlie Brown show at New Zealand Fashion Week did not disappoint. The backdrop seemed Rocky Horror Picture Show inspired and the models were striking with bright red lips against glistening white teeth. Yet what was on show was not risque. It was classy and prim.

The designs seemed 1920's styled with beautiful flapper inspired dresses, tassels and all. Big colourful patterns could be seen on drop waist dresses, and delicate lace on figure hugging little black dress.

Along with the classics there was a dash of wild and daring. The shimmery silver pants with the matching plunging neckline shirt were a stand out and the various dresses and skirts with delicate feathers added that extra bit of flare to the show.

The show closed with celebrity Aja Rock in a sparkly, pink sequined dress looking comfortable and confident as she smiled at the audience including Sally and Jaime Ridge, Candy Lane and Auckland Mayor Len Brown who lent a helping hand to the model who wobbled and toppled off her shoes at the very end of the show.

The sophisticated show left the audience with an “I must have that, and that” feeling and those wearing Charlie Brown designs in the crowd were very proud to flaunt that to anyone who would listen.

The Weekly Wrap - Airplanes #234

Taken in Brooklyn
1. Did you check out this weeks 'Person to Watch'? It's the amazing Jane Deezy. She's a NZ hiphop artist with some serious talent. Click here to read about her awesomeness, and don't forget to click download because she's giving away a song.

2. The kids over at MASH put together a video documenting the lead up to their exhibition.

3. If you are reading this then it is quite likely that I am not in America and I have successfully scheduled this post to publish itself whilst I am on an airplane/sleeping off jet lag in a car. Where am I? Well folks I am most likely in New Zealand! ! That's right! I thought I'd jump home for a week and a half to surprise my family. Prepare for photo overload. See you in September New Yawk.

New Business Cards #232

I got new business cards printed. I think they explain everything. Stop asking me what my job is, as it clearly states on my business card that "I MAKE COOL STUFF". Period.

What Notting Hill Taught Me #198

1. Having an English accent makes you automatically cooler.

2. Julia Roberts is like a solar eclipse over all other actresses.

3. Hugh Grant isn't so bad.

4. Notting Hill gave a very accurate depiction of 'that' roommate everyone loves to hate.

5. In the event that one becomes famous, the use of Mrs. Flinstone as a hotel alias is a great choice.

6. Horse & Hound is actually a magazine.

7. Mischa Barton was a child actor.

8. This song never gets old.

9. Owning a travel book store doesn't mean you will end up alone.

10. Wearing bifocal binoculars to the movies is totally acceptable.

Don't tell me you can do something if you can't #154

Marilyn
I think the phrase 'Fake it till you make it' is something everyone adopts at some point in their life, but it really shouldn't be stretched beyond its limits.

Thus, don't tell me you can do something if you can't.

Don't tell you can design a website if you can't.
Don't tell me your a writer if you've just finished a literature degree and the most you've written is poems to your non-existent dream girl.
Don't tell me you know people who know people because you talked to them once on twitter.
Don't tell me you know the right way when it's obvious my smartphone knows better.
Don't tell me you can make a better Iced Tea Lemonade than Starbucks because you can't.

Truth.

However, do tell me if you or your friends can do any of these things (I may write about them in pseudo-fancy publications.)

photography, music, design, video production, any facets of fashion

email me links or post them anonymously on my tumblr

Peace, Morgs

The Unintentional Inebriation (Weekly Wrap) #142

The next day I found this in my handbag (I'm top left I believe)
I was having a conversation with a friend a few hours ago and she mentioned that somewhere in the craziness of Saturday night I asked her (over the phone) to "Google Maps" my location. She was in a completely different part of the country. I knew little of where I was except I was somewhere in Brooklyn. It's ok, I was with friends.

Why am I telling you this? Good question. It was not my finest hour and I'd rather not share my night out  publicly, but I feel there's something to be gained. Thus, let the embarrassment continue.

You know when you really don't plan to go out and it ends up turning in to a mini adventure? No? Well, for example, imagine you plan to go and watch a live band at a bar in Brooklyn around at 2pm. You decide to have a drink in the sun. The bar conveniently ends up offering free drinks. It gets to 4pm and you've forgotten how many you've had. You meet a little Indian female film director, who is probably very talented in her own right, but her conversation is so excruciatingly boring that you end up drinking your feelings. She then starts talking about her sci-fi film that is based on female period blood curing a disease that threatens to end the world. Your eyes glaze over. You drink some more. You and your friends get a little freaked out that she keeps taking photos of you. You drink more.
