People to Watch: Type MASH #149

I've had quite a few people email me with their creative work asking if I can feature them on my blog. [Drumroll] It would appear that I've decided I will indeed start doing that. If you have friends that are doing something great get them to send me an email. If I think their work is magical I'll feature it. Boom! I promise I will never post something that is not worth reading. If I post it here you know it means business!

My first 'People to Watch' is, of course, from my amazing friend Haylie. For those of you that followed The New York Manifesto you can now follow Haylie's collaboration, Type MASHwith some of New Zealand's best typographers; Alice Lo, Mary Faber and Saranna Drury. It's pretty awesome- if I do say so myself. Previous to being 'typographically enlightened' I too wandered aimlessly in a 'Comic Sans' 'Times New Roman' dis-utopia. I knew very little about the architecture of a letter. After copious amounts of coaching (read: copious amounts of life changing, but slightly mind numbing computer graphic design banter) I now understand the importance of crafting great typography. Educate!

'A' designed by Alice Lo
I urge you to save the Type MASH blog to your favorites, your grandmas favorites, and your best friends-cousins-uncles-dogs-secret lovers favorites. I can honestly say that you will not be disappointed by the work they produce. I am almost peeing my pants in anticipation for what comes next.

For those of you rolling your eyes at typography might I just add that had Steve Jobs not stumbled into a typography class during college we may not have Apple computers. Word.
